Orcacon 2018 will soon be upon us. The inclusivity-focused tabletop gaming convention is taking over the Bellevue Hilton January 12th-14th. Aside from a plethora of panels scheduled games, local developers are running demos from special demo tables. Come try out new and upcoming games for the Puget Sound’s best.
The Cherry Picked Civic is loaded up and ready for its first international voyage. We are headed to Vancouver for the inaugural Shut Up & Sit Down Expo (SHUX). We have the primetime Indie Corner slot from 3-6 on Saturday, where we will be facilitating Conspire sessions, running Catalyst demos, and hawking our wares. The rest of the time will be spent wandering around aimlessly looking for friendship, love, and games. Hopefully, we will find all three. Maybe even senpai will notice me.
KublaCon ’17 was the largest tabletop convention we have participated in. We rolled down with some fellow Seattle game designers to share the costs and stresses of the four days of con and twenty-six hours of driving. We had a great time, to be sure. Our games were solid and our new friends were a pleasure to play with. The three of us also learned a lot about how we need to operate at cons, as well as what we would love to see from conventions in the future. Hopefully, both indie game developers and con operators can learn something from our experiences.
