Between our Tabletop Simulator mod and the world opening back up, we’re able to get more playtesting reps with Hair of the Dog. It’s great to see people loving the concept and trying to pet all the pups. We want to make this game real and get to Kickstarting it, but there are a couple of design issues to tackle first. Hair of the Dog needs to be both enjoyable at all player counts and have that undeniable Cherry Picked feeling.
Simulated Dogs
Hair of the Dog is now available on Tabletop Simulator! Below the cut is some behind-the-scenes thoughts and expectations, so if you’re eager to hop online and pet some dogs, follow these instructions:
Get a Steam account (free).
Get Tabletop Simulator through Steam (which is not free, but offers numerous other non-dog games).
Subscribe to Hair of the Dog – Prototype.
Hair of the Dog should now appear under your “Workshop Games” when you create a new game in Tabletop Simulator.
If we’re missing a step, please let us know.
Hair of the Dog - Prototype Design
Hair of the Dog is slated to be the next Cherry Picked Game. Our genre-hopping studio is looking forward to a fast-paced, high-player-count game, after living in Far Away’s 2-player story worlds for so long. We have a bunch of ideas and goals for the new game. We’re iterating over everything and finding the fun in petting these dogs, but we have an appreciable lack of playtesters. It’s a bit harder to test a game when you can’t post up at the local brewery or game shop. There’s a free prototype everyone can grab and try today. To help set the tone of the game and level-set where our progress is, we wanted to chat about the current design. Hopefully, we can all get on the same wavelength and grow Hair of the Dog from a cute little puppy to an even cuter adult dog that deserves your love.
