Far Away: Corporate Espionage has launched into the world! We’re thrilled that players can continue their Far Away stories in these new missions. While there’s still plenty to be done to promote and distribute the game, we’re eager to look ahead and see what the future of Cherry Picked Games holds.
Our last post on this subject was, admittedly, a bit melancholy. Spiel Essen was a great opportunity to connect with the most enthusiastic players around the world, but it also delivered an overwhelming impact from the vastness that is the tabletop game industry. Being a small fish in an ocean can make one feel trepidatious. Now that we are back in the still-very-large body of water that is Seattle, it’s easier to feel confident that we can continue to create enjoyable games. We’ve revamped our staff to have some new energy and momentum for the rest of 2026.
We have two projects in progress right now. First, we’re starting the third print run of Far Away. It continues to sell at a steady clip. The core experience remains the same, so don’t have FOMO if you already have a copy. The changes will be a few rule clarifications, notes about the expansion and AI CARD system, and some accessibility stickers for the CUBEs. Like last time, we probably won’t run a crowdfunding campaign, though we might use Kickstarter as an additional preorder platform if we sell out of the last few Far Away cases soon.
The next project is also a new edition. We’re bringing back Drink! We’ve been out of Drink! for a while, but the pandemic didn’t seem like the best time to try to sell a house-party game for 6–30 players. Now that we’re clear of gathering restrictions and not trying to make a massive expansion, we’re going to make Drink! v2.
We’re taking the opportunity to make some changes to our seminal card game. Most importantly, we’re editing or removing some cards where the art didn’t age well, as well as some cards that ended up not being as fun to play. We’re also going to make the rules clearer and highlight things like selecting cards rather than taking a random one and the ability to play with non-alcoholic drinks. Again, we’re not making extreme changes to the fundamental rules; the fun of Drink! is its simplicity.
We will be bringing Drink! to crowdfunding in the coming months. We’re planning to have some expansions as stretch goals. Beyond that, we’re open to the wisdom of the crowds as to what players want in terms of tiers and extra features. Feel free to share some of your favorite extras from other games in the comments.
2026 will be a great year for Cherry Picked Games. Revisiting the games that define our identity is an exciting and fulfilling prospect. We also have a couple of other things in the works, but it’s a little too early to spoil the fun.
